Making an Entrance!

Everything Grows was delighted to assist in the interior d├ęcor phase of this construction project by providing these striking tropical plants to accentuate the grand entrance to the facility.

Dracaena Warneckii provide a slender, gentle profile with a pale, blue-green and white variegated leaf.  These specimens were chosen for their seven feet of height to help retain the grand scale of the high ceilings in their palatial surroundings:

A side seating area directly off the entrance foyer features a tabletop arrangement with a vibrant bromeliad and a soft, beautiful lipstick plant.  The combination of the concrete container, the bromeliad's scarlet bloom and the flowing green foliage of the lipstick plant creates a striking contrast.  The choice of an oversized container helps this arrangement retain its place in the grand entrance:

Some of our favorites: These Ficus Lyrata Standard plants flank a sun-filled window and bathe in diffused natural light under a massive skylight in a common seating area.  Ficus Lyrata are fast growing and love bright, diffused light as seen here:

New Dracaena Plant Variety For Indoors

One of our growers has a new variety of Dracaena cane plant available with lovely light and dark geen striped variegation.  It is called the Dracaena Mauna Kea:

Below is another cane plant in the Dracaena family with a striking yellow perimeter variegation called the Dracaena Pele:

And for reference is the classic tried and true Dracaena Lisa pictured below:

All of these cane plants are grown in Hawaii and are terrific plants for indoor office environments.  They grow underneath jungle canopies in the wild and are used to lower light environments.  There are many varieties of Dracaena cane plants and our Everything Grows designers will help you choose which plants are appropriate for both appearance and survivability in your indoor workspace.

Beautiful New Indoor Plant Installation

Everything Grows just installed indoor plants at a gorgeous new Class A office space in Pleasanton, CA.

The Everything Grows design team worked closely with the office space designer to come up with the perfect plant and container selection to go with the look they wanted to achieve.

As part of the design process, our Everything Grows team measures light levels present in your space to best determine the best plant choices for a given location.  This ensures that each plant will retain its healthy look at all times.  Here are a few photos of the installation:

Well Building Standard

Everything Grows staff recently attended a seminar on the Well Building Standard that is being rolled out globally and we were impressed with the program.

Here is the three paragraph description of the program from the Well Building web site:

We believe that buildings should be developed with people’s health and wellness at the center of design. The WELL Building Standard® takes a holistic approach to health in the built environment addressing behavior, operations and design.

WELL is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and well-being, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind.

WELL is grounded in a body of medical research that explores the connection between the buildings where we spend more than 90 percent of our time, and the health and wellness of its occupants. WELL Certified™ spaces and WELL Compliant™ core and shell developments can help create a built environment that improves the nutrition, fitness, mood, sleep patterns, and performance of its occupants.

In going through the 102 Well Building standards requirements found in a 220 page PDF available for free from the Well Building web site, Everything Grows can help with the Biophilia requirement (standard item # 100):

Potted plants or planted beds cover at least 1% of floor area per floor

or

A plant wall per floor, covering a wall area equal or greater than 2% of the floor area, or covering the largest of the available walls, whichever is greater.

Keep an eye on this program -- it is set to become an industry standard similar to LEED.
